The link between SEND and both absence and persistent absence is longstanding, but it became more pronounced post-Covid. According to the Children’s Commissioner, it’s not just a case that SEND learners need to attend appointments, schools are also failing to make the adjustments required to enable SEND learners to attend school, participate in the social environment, and engage with the curriculum. This course explores ways of raising the attendance of SEND learners, and other vulnerable children, and of fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging.
