OUTLINE
This course is designed to support staff to sharpen their positive behaviour management skills and adopt effective strategies to tackle everything from low level disruption to high confrontation and therefore improve the quality of teaching, learning and progress in their classrooms.
Why do pupils misbehave?
How can positive behaviour strategies improve pupil attitudes to learning?
Does low level disruption interrupt pupil progress in the lessons in your school?
Whilst there have been many dissenting voices regarding the extent and nature of problem behaviour in schools, a consistent perception remains that pupil behaviour constitutes a significant and ongoing issue for teachers. Ofsted also noted that schools are finding it difficult to get proper support for dealing with increasing levels of violence and sexualised behaviour of pupils.
This course will identify the key areas that will help to ensure effective classroom behaviour management. It will initially look at the reasons why rules are in place, how these help learning, and how consistency and clarity is crucial. Opportunities to build and re-build pupil relationships will be set out to achieve win-win situations. Strategies for inside and outside classroom behaviour management will be reviewed, along with simple tips for dealing with low level disruption and higher confrontational situations.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Headteachers, Deputy Heads, Assistant Heads, and other members of the SLT.
