Enhancing Safeguarding through Professional Curiosity

Wed, 30 Apr 2025

Virtual, Online

This workshop helps education professionals understand the importance of professional curiosity in early safeguarding detection, enabling timely intervention and improved outcomes. Participants will gain skills for engaging with parents, handling difficult conversations, and understanding the escalation process to address safeguarding concerns effectively.

This workshop is designed to help education professionals understand the critical role of professional curiosity in identifying safeguarding concerns early, ensuring timely intervention. Participants will explore how to recognise ambivalence or avoidance in engaging with parents and carers, and how adopting a mindset of professional curiosity can increase vigilance and improve outcomes for children. The session will encourage “outside the box thinking,” empowering staff to approach challenges creatively and with confidence, while strengthening their safeguarding practices.

A key focus of the workshop will be developing the skills to handle difficult conversations and address challenges effectively. Participants will learn strategies for engaging in constructive dialogues with both children and parents, fostering open communication and trust. Additionally, the workshop will cover the importance of escalation, equipping staff with the knowledge to escalate concerns appropriately when necessary. This session will leave participants empowered and better prepared to navigate complex safeguarding issues with professionalism and confidence.
