This course will present the research around the effectiveness of emotion coaching, set out the key principles and support in the skills development of the using this in practice.
Behaviour management can be a challenge in any school. Emotion coaching is an evidence based 3 step approach to dealing with behaviour in the moment, that has been tried and tested in schools. It recognises that what we as adults and educators do, shapes and strengthens brain development in children. It enables children and young people to mange their own behaviour through helping them understand the range of emotions they experience, why they happen and how to manage them. Research to date has shown that these techniques had a very positive impact on behaviour of the child, confidence and self regulation of staff and a reduction in internal exclusions. This masterclass will take you through the theory, and support your practice to use Emotion Coaching techniques and ideas. These techniques will not only strengthen pupil wellbeing but also staff wellbeing, through a focus on relationship based teaching and learning
